Sixth Grade Famous Faces Going Places
The first postage stamp was issued in 1847 by the United States Postal Service. Since that time, over 800 people from history, government, literature, art,science,medicine, entertainment, and sports have been commemorated. Each year Grade Six looks forward to a day of Famous Faces Who Go Places. Students choose a person who has been honored on a stamp, and for one whole day they become that person. Each student prepares an oral presentation delivered in first person, has a photo "postage stamp" made of his/her honoree and remains in character for the day.
